There are many reasons to offer products not only on common marketplaces like Amazon, but also in your own online store. More independence, higher margins, and stronger customer loyalty, for example. But where there is light, there is also shadow: online storepers love marketplaces because they offer a wide selection, good customer service, and an all-round uncomplicated shopping experience. For store operators, this means: you need to give your customers good reasons to shop directly in your store! One of these reasons can be a particularly good shopping experience tailored to the customer's needs. This is exactly what our project with airtracks was about.

For those who don't know airtracks yet: The Berlin-based manufacturer offers a wide range of high-quality sports articles, including sportswear, e-bikes, bicycles, snowboards, and various accessories. For 20 years, the company has stood for quality and customer-friendliness – this should also be reflected in an online store that is and remains state-of-the-art in design and technology.

This spring, we had the opportunity to accompany the airtracks team in their move from Shopware to Shopify. In the process, we also built a product configurator. It allows customers to assemble their own sets from various product categories and works for products related to snowboarding, cycling, and running. Anyone who builds their own set according to individual requirements not only has everything matching and from a single source – but of course also an immediately apparent price advantage compared to buying items individually. The user is guided step-by-step through the different product categories to ensure the most intuitive and simple shopping experience possible at all times.

If you're in a hurry, you can directly add products to the configurator in the quick view. If you want to inform yourself thoroughly, you can choose the detailed view and dive deep into the respective product information. Additionally, there is the possibility to automatically add free products in a category as part of promotions – for example, a water bottle when buying an e-bike, or a snowboard bag when buying a snowboard. The customer can benefit from set discounts and possible set gifts as soon as they have added at least two paid items. This is rounded off by a clear display of the sets and prices in the storeping cart.
